On Thursday, February 6, historian Andrea Santangelo will lead the event “At the Roots of Hatred” at the library

The Day of Remembrance—established by the Italian Republic with Law No. 92 of March 30, 2004, to preserve and renew the memory of the tragedy of Italians during the Julian-Dalmatian exodus, the victims of the foibe massacres, and the historical events of the eastern border—falls on February 10 each year, the anniversary of the Paris Treaties of 1947. On this occasion, as usual, the Municipal Administration and the Fondazione Culture Santarcangelo organize two initiatives for citizens and schools.

On Thursday, February 6 at 9:00 PM, in the Baldini Hall of the library, the in-depth discussion “At the Roots of Hatred: Seven Centuries of Conflicts across the Adriatic” will be held, with historian Andrea Santangelo illustrating the history of the eastern border from its most remote origins.

On Monday, February 10, at 9:30 AM, the official commemoration will take place at the plaque dedicated to the events of the eastern border, in the 19th-century Hall at MUSAS. Following the laying of a laurel wreath, the Municipal Administration will deliver a speech in the presence of schools, authorities, and citizens who wish to attend.
