The Offer of the Municipal Museums of Santarcangelo Expands With New Visiting Slots and a Collaboration with the Pro Loco
In April, as part of the program celebrating the 20th anniversary of the museum’s activity, MUSAS is experimenting with new proposals and ways to enjoy the collections, developed by Fo.Cu.S also thanks to collaboration with the Pro Loco.
This initiative – starting in April as part of the celebrations for the museum’s 20 years – invites the public to discover its heritage through an increasingly engaging experience.
More Days and Opportunities to Visit the Museum Collections
Following physical renovations supported by the PNRR, which improved accessibility and created a more multisensory visit experience, MUSAS is now extending its opening days and increasing opportunities to visit its precious collections.
In addition to the usual openings on weekend and holiday afternoons (from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm), the museum will also be open by appointment on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings.
Visitors will also be able to join free weekly guided tours led by museum staff: on Saturdays there will be two sessions at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm, and on Sundays a single session at 6:00 pm.
MUSAS Joins the Pro Loco’s “From the Sacred to the Profane” Tour
From April 9 to September 28, 2025
Visiting options will also expand thanks to the collaboration between Fo.Cu.S and the Pro Loco of Santarcangelo, who share the goal of offering new opportunities to develop the tourist vocation of cultural sites.
Starting in April, Pro Loco includes MUSAS in its guided tour circuit of the town “From the Sacred to the Profane”, which also covers the caves and the casemate in Piazza Balacchi. This guided tour adds a stop at the museum, focusing on artworks that weave into the narration to reveal ancient places of worship and rituals, as well as traditional techniques for preserving wines and food.
The tour costs €7 per person (€6 for seniors over 65, and free for children under 14).
…And in the Guided Costume Tour “Five Characters in Search…”
Friday April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, and September 12, 2025
This weekend will host a private rehearsal, exclusive to members, of the special guided costume tour “Five Characters in Search…”: five exceptional guides will embody key figures from Santarcangelo’s history and culture (from Pope Clement XIV to characters in Cagnacci’s paintings), sharing a comical and ironic narration that reveals the town’s people, history, and anecdotes. After visiting the caves and the museum’s piano nobile, the tour will conclude with live music and a light buffet at Celletta Zampeschi.
After the members-only rehearsal, public tours will be held on Friday April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, and September 12.
The cost is €15 per person, including the final tasting.
These new ways to access MUSAS’ unique heritage will be experimented throughout the tourist season, until September 30, with the hope of inaugurating a new chapter for the museum and the community.
